Signs you may have a slab leak.
Most Fort Worth–area homes sit on concrete slabs with water lines underneath. North Texas clay swells and shrinks with the seasons, and that movement wears on buried pipe. You rarely see the leak itself. You notice the clues.
- A water bill that rises with no change in use
- A warm spot on the floor, often on tile
- The sound of running water when everything is off
- Damp carpet, swelling wood floors, or loose tiles
- A water heater that seems to run constantly

Leak detection itself is usually a paid service. National cost guides put it at roughly $150–$400 (Angi, 2026), and the plumber should tell you any fee up front. If water is actively coming in, shut off your main valve first.

Questions, answered.
Are you a plumbing company?
No. Fort Worth Leak Detection is a referral and matching service. We connect you with independent, TSBPE-licensed local plumbers; we don’t perform the work ourselves.
Is the leak check free?
Asking is free, and so is being matched with a local plumber. Electronic leak detection itself is usually a paid service, and the plumber should tell you any fee before coming out. Many plumbers provide repair estimates at no charge.
How soon will someone contact me?
After you send the form or call, a local pro will reach out to talk it through. If water is actively coming into your home, shut off the main valve and tell us it’s active.
Does insurance cover slab leaks?
Many homeowners policies cover sudden water damage and the cost of tearing out the floor to reach the pipe, but not the pipe repair itself. Policies vary, so check yours. Our FAQ covers the details.
